MAKE Group Work More EFFECTIVE!
May 17, 2025Here are some ideas to help your students work well in groups:
Making sure students stay focused in groups can be tricky. Here are some ways to help:
- Give everyone a job. When each student has a specific role in the group, they know what they are responsible for. Letting students choose their roles and understanding what those roles mean can be helpful.
- Make their grades connected. When how well the group does affects everyone's grade, students have a reason to help each other learn and work together. You can combine individual and group grades.
- Give quick feedback. When students know how they did right away, they can learn from their mistakes and help their group members.
- Offer group rewards. You can give groups points for staying on task. When they earn enough points, they can get a special reward, like less homework. This encourages students to help each other behave well.
