Why Are Classrooms So Out of Control Now?
Jul 05, 2025How Teachers Can Regain Control Without Losing Hope
👀 Would you believe me if I said students can curse at teachers or bring BB guns to school — and sometimes only get a short suspension? That’s the reality many of us face.
But here’s the question I keep asking myself:
“What can I do about it?”
🎯 Truth: There’s no magic fix for classroom behavior.
But the mindset we choose can make a difference.
I’ve learned that when I take responsibility for how I respond, I feel more in control — even when things are tough.
🧠 Try This Thought:
“If I believe I can’t change anything, I won’t.
But if I believe I can influence behavior, I’ll try — and grow.”
🔁 My Big Lesson
Ray Dalio, a famous businessman, uses the phrase:
“It’s another one of those.”
It means: when you see a problem, try to recognize the pattern.
I've realized disruptive students come and go, but the behaviors stay the same. When I reflect on what worked (or didn’t) before, I respond better now.
✅ Action Steps for Teachers:
-
Take notes on tough situations.
-
Look for patterns over time.
-
Stay calm and consistent.
💡 You’re not powerless.
Even small changes in how you respond can lead to better classroom behavior.
